“The Opposition with Jordan Klepper” Full of Familiar Faces

Comedy Central’s new show ,”The Opposition with Jordan Klepper”, debuts on Monday, September 25th,  and if it will feature several of our friends and alums.

Klepper’s new show will feature iO alums Laura Grey and Tim Baltz as “Citizen Journalists”, and Russ Armstrong, Chelsea Devantez, Asher Perlman, Steve Waltien, and Seth Weitberg as part of the writing staff.

Chicago comedy fans will recognize several of these people from various shows and productions both at iO and the Second City.

Jordan Klepper and Steve Waltien performed together for several years in iO’s “Whirled News Tonight“, one of Chicago’s longest running comedy shows.

Klepper was also part of the cult hit “The Late Night Show” (which he and Seth Weitberg wrote and performed in), the iO teams “Sandbox Democracy” &  “Carl & The Passions”, and he’s performed alongside Laura Grey (who is now his wife) at both iO and the Second City.

Besides Whirled News Tonight, Steve Waltien performed alongside Tim Baltz and Seth Weitberg on one of iO’s most popular teams “Bullet Lounge”, and he was part of the critically acclaimed hit show, “The Improvised Shakespeare Company“, alongside fellow writer, Asher Perlman.

Tim Balt performed in countless other shows at iO before moving on to appear in shows like HBO’s Veep, AMC’s Better Call Saul, NBC’s Parks & Recreation and Superstore, ABC’s Fresh Off The Boat, IFC’s Comedy Bang Bang, Comedy Central’s Drunk History, and Seeso’s Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ and Shrink, which he co-created.

Before moving on to star in revues for the Second City, Cheslea Devantez studied and performed at iO, most notably with her iO ‘Harold’ team, “A Raptor”.

We are very excited and proud of our friends and can’t wait to watch the premier of The Opposition with Jordan Klepper on Monday, September 25th!
