Lauren Glass, a founding member of Improvised Jane Austen, recently returned to this lovely group of obstinate, headstrong women after an eight-year hiatus. In recent years Lauren has occupied herself as a Speech-Language Pathologist, dog and cat mom, potter, and improvising in the occasional one-off show or guest spot. In her “youth” Lauren could be seen at iO, Comedy Sportz Chicago, The Playground, and other independent teams and projects.
Lauren grew up in Dallas, began her college journey at the University of New Mexico (theater/playwriting/American Sign Language (ASL)), then completed her undergraduate degree at Columbia College (ASL, film, and fiction/screen writing) in 2001. A few years later Lauren completed her Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Northwestern University in 2006, where she picked up her M.A. CCC-SLP, then headed to the public school system. Lauren has worked with every kind of amazing child since; 1 year-olds to 16 year-olds, individuals on the autism spectrum, communicators using spoken language and ASL/SE, and a host of other unique kiddos. When not nerding out with the ladies of Improvised Jane Austen she can be found at Live Like Roo and Hot Mess Express events (supporting dogs with a cancer diagnosis and rescuing older dogs in need, respectively). Her one-eyed, one-eared, underbite beauty- Frankie, is a frequent subject of Lauren’s photography and discourse. Be warned.
